Same here! I need a lot of the features Volusion offers, but every review I read claims they breakdown often and have bad customer support. I'm sick of Yahoo! but don't want to be stuck in another bad place. I am looking at BigCommerce but they charge the same amount for bandwidth overages as Volusion ($0.01/MB) with smaller bandwidth limits!

All of these recent posts are scaring me off of Volusion. If anyone can recommend a solid alternative, I'd be very interested to hear about it.

I also found Shopify and at first they looked really good. Till I realized their templates are all based on "blog" layouts and you couldn't set categories in most of them. The designs aren't that great to begin with either.

I am "testing" Volusion right now and am glad I found these posts! I was worried about bandwidth and it seems, by the posts above, that I should worry! My main issue, which no one has mentioned yet, is I sell luxury handbags and I use a lot of images per product (up to 20!) I liked the fact that we can have multiple images on Volusion but the first roadblock I hit was, once you added a lot of images, it started to "shift" your template to the right! I have been waiting five days, for tech support to figure this out. One great tech guy and I figured out that you can add 10 photos - once you add the 11th one, your listing shifts so far over, you lose your formatting. Seems to me that this should be a "simple" fix. Like left justifying instead of center? I'm already so frustrated I am going to ask for my first month's money back.

I am checking out a site called Big Commerce right now. They look good except for me, they only allow five images.

As a current Volusion user and having shopped comparable carts and not being able to move - color me frustrated and resigned to riding this losing cart into the ground because that is where it seems to be going.

Multiple crashes and loss of data as they greedily move from Rackspace to their own servers. Unapologetic about astronomical bandwidth overage charges sprung on customers, as high as $1000 I've seen complained about.

Now they crash the admin system periodically with full page splash advertising that wipes out any data (ie as in while you are taking a phone order from a customer) you may have entered.

Clay and Kevin's recent decisions leads me to wonder if they are addicted to the rush of risky moves. Do you want to place your hard work in their hands? I am so frustrated with their recent decisions. If there was a competitor that could handle what we need we'd move in a heartbeat. Don't get stuck like us!

FYI: Volusion can't run your own web code nor will they refund you in full when called out. The best Volusion can do is have you choose the best template that fits your needs. Turns out, not good enough nor as advertised. They will only refund 16% of what you paid. Might be good business practice in Texas, but not good enough in the real business world. Seems Kevin Sproles, Clay Olivier and David House idea of good business practice is to ignore phone calls or hide behind employees skirts for protection. It's good advice

I was very happy to find your article about Volusion. I have had 3 separate volusion stores for the past 1.5 years and I cannot wait to move to new shopping cart. You touched on a few of the problems with volusion but there are many more.

#1- Their support is HORRIBLE as you stated below. you have to beg and plead for any help and it is not uncommon to find yourself in a call queue of 25 + other customers and hold times up to 2 hours. I have been hing up on, lied too and treated like a lower life form than a maggot.

#2- Quickbooks Web Connector is not stable and it breaks monthly. Once it breaks you are screwed, you have to call Volusion so that they can review trouble logs that they will not share with you. We have been without a working web connector for 97 days in the last 234 days. They should not be allowed to say they have this feature since it does not work and it is riddled with bugs.

#3- The Volusion API is buggy and our developers have shown them hundreds of errors and they claim that we are the only people that care about the bugs. Do not buy this shopping cart if you are looking to integrate it in a stable way, it will let you down everyday.

#4- Downtime, yada, yada

I could go on for days but I will not. The worst part about all of this is that I have asked to speak with their CEO (Kevin) 14 times and I am constantly told that he will not speak with customers. This is disgraceful.

DO NOT CHOSE a VOLUSION SHOPPING CART!!!!!! BEWARE
