I'm an attorney (hope you won't hold that against me) and I work with a lot of small business people. I've had a lot of questions about government grants but I've been reluctant to recommend any because there are so many scams out there. I have not thoroughly researched the area but my experience is that there really isn't much practical money available for a small business owner through the grant process. I'd really like to find out that I'm wrong and that there are some realistice opportunities for small business owners to get some ligitimate grant money. I'm just really skeptical. Can anyone help reduce or eliminate my skepticism by providing information on government grants for small businesses that really work.

Any information would be much appreciated.
