[photopress:youtube_logo.gif,full,alignleft]Have you ever tried bringing traffic from YouTube? I have tried uploading a few videos before, but never had the chance to test the actual traffic coming from YouTube.

Social marketing is becoming huge. There are many popular websites like YouTube, StumpleUpon, MySpace, etc. If you have direct links from a site, you can easily track the traffic you’re receiving, and even every single detail from the traffic.

But with the addition of online video websites, most users will upload a video and implement their website URL onto the video, such as “Brought to you by blahblah.com” caption text on the video. This is great, if the person who is watching the video likes it, he/she may be checking your website also for more. But since the URL on the video is not clickable, they will type the URL and visit your site. Statistics softwares will show these visitors as “Direct Traffic” and you will never know where they came from.

I have recently written about creative link baiting. Being creative is great, but do you think there are limits?

I remember the day, when a hot blond girl auctioned advertising rights on her boobs on ebay. It was creative, close to the limit. But a guy named Joe is pushing the limits in creativity.

[photopress:email_newsletter.jpg,full,alignleft]If you have a blog, probably you have a loyal group of readers, or you will get them soon. If you basically write every single tip or idea on your blog, and share all your genious secrets, what is the difference between regular/loyal readers and first time readers?

I thought about this a lot, and honestly I wasn’t sure if an email newsletter was necessary for a blog, but then I decided to offer extra tips, insider information to online marketing and business, and also share some tools/websites which I use personally to only my loyal readers. Therefore I’ve setup an email newsletter system, and I will be sending my insider tips once month.

[photopress:meetup.gif, full, alignleft]It’s been a long time since I first wrote about Meetup Meetings. I’ve attended NYC Affiliate Marketing Meetup Meeting last night. I’ve been a member of meetup.com and have attended a number of meetings in business and IT topics. Yesterday, only 4 people showed up, including me and the organizer. This is the first time I have had a meetup meeting with a small group like this. Depending on your goal, meetup meeting can be very productive for you. You can generate lots of business, or at least do some networking, and exchange business cards.

[photopress:google_logos.jpg,full,alignleft]What is google?

- A search engine
- A full service advertising agency
- A verb in English language

This list will go on and on. But what is actually Google doing? What is their goal in the long run? What were the Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin‘s plans when they first started google?

This is a pretty long article about my thoughts about Google’s dangerous monopoly game foreplay.

After the launch of Google Adwords (Google Sponsored Search Results), it has started to become popular. It was a great way for google to make money. Many users didn’t even notice they were paid search results, so they have clicked them. Google showed paid search results only at the right sidebar of the screen. My first thought was; They will eventually put these paid search results at the top section just above the organic search results, and they did.

Google Adwords has become a multi billion dollar revenue source for Google, and they wanted to make their shareholders happy quarter after quarter. Don’t get me wrong, I love google, I have always been a big fan since their launch, but just like any other corporation the interests started shifting at the Google Headquarters.

I have been busy working on my websites, reorganizing them, deciding which ones to sell, and which ones to keep. If you have a large network of websites, and if you haven’t worked on them for a while, it’s hard to get back in shape.

Setting goals with your online marketing plans is an important part of this game. Your goal may be net profit per monht, or getting a top 3 position for a specific keyword at google.

When I work on a website, I use two seperate spreadsheets. One for financial data, all the income and expenses, and another one for only SEO, SEM tracking purposes. I am too lazy to write a script to track everything in one interface, but it’s in my list.

When you set your goals for your online marketing plans, you will be achieving more. I may prepare some spreadsheet examples and post here, it may help some newbie webmasters who are starting their network of websites.

I am also doing a lot of experiments with affiliate marketing, and I will start sharing my experiences with you.

I was checking google analytics stats for one of my blogs, and I was very surprised to see around 15 unique visitors/day traffic coming from Google searched for a specific keyword search. You’d say what’s surprising about this? It was for a 3 word misspelled keyword phrase.

I went right away to my blog post to check the misspelled words, but couldn’t find the misspelled words neither on my post title nor in the post. Then I see a comment from a user with the misspelled keyword phrase.

I have heard so many things about bringing traffic from search engines with misspelled keywords. In fact many many famours domains have all the misspelled versions trying to bring some extra traffic. Now I can see the reason why people spend time and money working on misspelled keywords.

So, if you are doing SEO within a very high competitive niche, it’d be smart to play with misspelled keywords (at least add a few landing pages). I know it may not be very white hat SEO, but if SE traffic is very important for you, it’s something you should try.

Wanted to post about my experience, maybe I should start misspelling when I write (hint hint).

by Ahmet Kirtok on August 9, 2007

[photopress:fundinguniverse.gif, full, alignleft]Before the internet era, finding a VC or an angel investor for your business plan was hard. You needed a great business plan with an innovative product, and also connections to those VC (Venture Capital) companies.

With the starting of internet era, funding game has shifted from big projects to smaller ones. We have been hearing so many success stories of startup companies which started in the founders’ basements.

I have been following a startup called FundingUniverse.com and I believe they have achieved their goal. Funding Universe is a meeting place for investors and entrepreneurs. Currently, there are over 16.000 entrepreneurs and almost 5.000 business plans available for over 700 investors liking.

After so many reality shows with every possible theme, producers ran out of topics to create new reality shows. Now, we have The Next Internet Millionaire Reality Show coming up (first episode on august 15th).

[photopress:next_internet_millionaire_1.jpg,full,centered]

You can watch the audition videos of top 12 contestants. I have checked a few of them, and didn’t see any success stories there. Since this is a reality show, rating (looks) might be more important than the success story. I’ll try to watch the first episode, and comment more after that.
