Make Money with Facebook Applications

by Ahmet Kirtok on October 28, 2007

Update, November 23rd, 2009 – Facebook Advertising Platform is a great place to advertise your Facebook Applications. I have written a detailed article about Making Money with Facebook Ads. You might want to check it out also.”

Facebook is in our daily life. Most of my friends login to their facebook account more than their email accounts. I have been receiving tens of application invitations every day, and getting seriously tired of it. I was wondering about different monetization methods for Facebook applications and did some research.

I have found an online auction marketplace site to buy and sell Facebook Applications called APPMRKT. Even though this site is very new, there are already auctions running and people are paying some serious money for facebook applications.

Currently, most of the applications on facebook don’t make money, but a few of them have already started making money and bringing investors. There are 2 videos of Jason Bailey about monetizing facebook applications. I’m sure these will give you some ideas about the possibilities.

Monetizing Facebook Applications – Jason Bailey (part 1)

Monetizing Facebook Applications – Jason Bailey (part 2)

I have been thinking about developing a Facebook Application. Most developers launch their applications, and get excited when there’s tremendous traffic, and they try to find ways to monetize it. But I will do my biz plan first, prepare the monetization strategy, then will work on the application.

Is there any facebook application developers or fans out there?

Hi Guys!

We’re an all girl tech start up with the sweeeetest widget out there at tinymassive.com. These puppies have been designed and developed for the blogosphere and specifically social network apps as an addition or alternative to Adwords. They come in 5 sizes and the conversion has really been great.

Take our widgets for a spin on your Facebook app and importantly, let us know how they do. We are constantly working to improve them.

Hi – Is it possible to have an app made that has widgets that can be purchased on it? If so, how do you set up the payment portion to receive payments? For example, if I had a “food fight” application that allowed users to pay a dollar to select a certain food to throw at someone else on facebook how would my company receive money? I need a developer who can build an app for me (somewhat similar to my example) and who can help me figure out how to receive payment.

I tried to watch the above videos from Jason Bailey but it says:
“This is a private video. If you have been sent this video, please make sure you accept the sender’s friend request.”
And when I click on Jason Bailey I get to a blank site that shows: “Well, hello hello!”

As a business person I am interested in how to make money from Facebook but none of the articles I have read so far have convinced me.

Perhaps if you started a group called ‘make money from Facebook’ and post articles that advertise ways to make money from advertising your products it might get lots of people to promote your products. In relation to aps, I have never accepted any invitations from my friends to use applications because of the concern I have towards privacy on Facebook.

BTW I wasn’t able to view the clips above but thanks all the same.

I think twitter is just one of the media to promote a product, and this applies also to other networks, like twitter
